Michael Jackson Thriller: The Person. The Music
Michael Jackson Thriller was the number one selling album of all time and was the sixth album that was put out by Michael Jackson. Epic records released this album in November of nineteen eighty two. Thriller followed another famous album Off the wall which was released in nineteen seventy nine.
Thriller is a lot like off the wall because it explores some of the same kind of music like R&B and pop. The production of thriller was one of the most exciting albums that Jackson ever put out and as of two thousand and seven it has sold a whopping sixty five million copies, just in that year.
thriller was released on November thirtieth in the year nineteen eighty two by Epic Records. This album followed Jackson’s famous and successful album Off the wall which was released in nineteen seventy nine.
Thriller is a lot like the album off the wall because it follows genres like funk and disco. To describe thrillers lyrics I would have to say they are like experiencing paranoia and the supernatural.
With a budget of seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars to work with, this album was recorded between April and November of nineteen eighty two. Thriller was recorded at West-lake recording studios in Los Angeles California. With the help of Quincy Jones, Micheal Jackson wrote four out of nine songs that were on the Thriller album. And seven of the nine songs were also released as singles before the actual album came out.
Unlike many artists, Jackson did not write his songs on paper and when he recorded he simply remembered these songs in his mind. Jones also told Jackson that thriller would not make it and be as successful as Off the wall, but Jackson went ahead and put it on the album anyways. It is a good thing he did because if he did not we would not have this wonderful song that so many people love.
