Heat Your Residence With A Wood Pellet Stove Next Winter
Warming your house can be rather expensive, especially for people who live up north. Traditional furnace powered heaters and heating systems can be very expensive to install and continue to cost a lot to run. Though, there is an alternative way to get heat that is a less expensive and more efficient in providing heat for families. Pellet stoves are this alternative; they heat homes efficiently for little to no cost.
This method uses small pellets that are harvested from recycled chunks of wood, or pellets. Furthermore, some types of stoves can burn wood shavings and sometimes corn for fueling the fire. The pellets are placed inside the stove, usually in the middle, and are heated to produce a fire that burns for a longer period of time than most logs. In addition, log burning pellet stoves are available to display a natural wood-burning fire for people who like fireplaces.
Pellet stoves work like a fireplace wherein a fire is initiated to generate heat that is pushed into venting and distributed about the dwelling. Some pellet stoves come standard consisting of a big iron door to close the stove during heating. But, there are also units that allow one to to see the fire. Typically, these pellet stoves have a looking glass in the front to allow you to look within and see how many pellets have been burned and if the stove needs more. In addition, pellet stoves have a motor and mechanism for distributing the heat and reduce toxins before it releases the heat to the house.
These stoves can be of two kinds: top-fed and bottom fed. Before you run out and buy the first one you see, it is important to know the difference between them.
* Top-Fed Pellet Stoves – This type will take the pellets, or wood through the top of the unit. This system reduces the risk of burning back but more of a chance of producing clinkers (the chunks formed from burning ash repeatedly). Top-fed stoves require a higher grade pellet to keep this from happening.
* Bottom-Fed Pellet Stoves – This type of pellet stove uses the pellets in the bottom of the stove. Because of this, consumers can forget about clinkers and the stoves operate much cleaner. Also, bottom-fed pellet stoves do not need premium pellets and can provide heat with almost any type of wood. Bottom-fed pellet stoves have an ash pan that collects the ash for easy removal and cleaning.
Heating your residence doesn’t always have to be expensive. With the use of a pellet stove, you can be on your way to saving a ton of your hard earned money. These units can pay for themselves after a short period of time. After the unit pays for itself, you will start to see your electric bill plummet. Also, it is a wonderful feeling to know that you are using power from natural sources and saving our environment one home at a time.
